28 Sep Kristen + Shaun: Turquoise and Red
Happy Friday! We’ll leave you today with a super fun wedding. I love it when brides take risks with their color schemes, and for Kristen and Shaun’s Bay City wedding, they chose red and turquoise. It came together beautifully! Kristen was worried that the colors wouldn’t work well in pictures, but as you’ll see, she had absolutely nothing to worry about. Kristen and Shaun used all local vendors, and Kristen DIY’d all of the reception table decor.
Some insight from Kristen:
It’s crazy to say but everything went very smooth on our wedding day, or I was just oblivious to the bad since my mind was focused on marrying my best friend and being surrounded by so many special and supportive family and friends. I didn’t sweat the little things and knew it was just 1 day in time and all of the minor hiccups would not ruin such a memorial day, nor hinder our future. We had beautiful weather, I loved that my bridesmaids spent 1 final ‘single’ night with me the night prior and we were able to be together the entire day getting pampered and ready for the big event. I loved that people traveled near and far to be a part of our wedding and we had guests from 4 different continents. We chose Bay City since this was the place where Shaun got on one knee. The DoubleTree was a perfect venue for the reception because it was walking distance from the wedding venue, a beautiful backdrop for photos along the river, and our guests could stay the night right there and not have to worry about a thing.
On special moments:
Another memorable moment was seeing my dad for the first time that day. He was not allowed to see me during the all-day prep, but when he walked into the room before we walked down the aisle together was so memorable. He was so proud and emotional (very unlike him) of his little girl and I wouldn’t have changed that for the world. I was then able to see my future husband waiting for me at the end of the aisle and just having my dad pass me on to Shaun was special. It was a perfect transition. (Ok enough with the sappy emotional part).
On the reception:
Everything fell into place at the reception, great food and even better dancers! The floor was packed the entire night, whether they were playing Elvis, Carly Rae Jepsen, or Lil Wayne 😉
I honestly would not have done anything different. Brides always warn you that the night goes fast and to just take a step back, soak it all in, and enjoy every minute – and that is absolutely the truth. The best part of planning a wedding is realizing the reason. You want to be with someone and take the next steps for your future together – don’t get caught up in an overwhelming amount of stress from planning. Utilize all the resources and talents you have. A strong support team will guide you through all the tedious decisions and will see you to a picture perfect night.
