14 May Tulip Time – Throwback Thursday
Happy Thursday everyone! I don’t usually do “Throwback Thursday” posts, but thought I would this week for a Tulip Time Throwback to last week during the Tulip Time Festival! Do you love flowers? If you know me, you know I do too. And if you REALLY know me, you know that tulips are my 2nd favorite flower (peonies take the cake). I first heard about the Tulip Time festival that takes place in Holland, Michigan during the time my sweet sister Sarah attended Hope College. I had always wanted to see it for myself but had never gotten the opportunity. After moving to Grand Rapids last summer, I saw my chance! Even better was that my husband’s document control manager, Vicki (a sweetheart who takes awesome care of my husband while he’s at work), has taken part in the famous dutch dance during the festival for years. We had the opportunity to go see her dance last week. And as we drove into downtown Holland, my mouth sank to the floor as I looked out the window upon rows and rows of beautiful tulips in all different colors. I remember telling Mike (the hubs) to… “Just park! Anywhere!”. I don’t even think the car was in park before my door flung open and out I jumped. My kids have never been put in their stroller that fast before:) Did you know that Holland boasts nearly 4.5 million tulips during this time?! It’s pure heaven for my fellow tulip enthusiasts. I didn’t plan to do a post, so my iphone photos will have to suffice (Bethany has the fancy professional camera). They are still beautiful, just not as beautiful as they were in person. Enjoy!
